Privacy Policy for AidMart

Effective Date: 10 February 2026
Last Updated: 10 February 2026

  1. Who We Are & Our Role
This Privacy Policy applies to AidMart, an online marketplace and donation platform operating as a division of Envion PTY LTD, a company registered in the Republic of South Africa (“we”, “us”, “our”, “AidMart”). Our website is: https://aidmart.co.za.

Crucially, AidMart operates as a platform or intermediary. We do not manufacture, stock, or sell products directly. We provide a digital marketplace where:

  • Registered Suppliers (“Vendors”) list and sell assistive technology and daily living equipment.
  • Buyers browse and purchase these products.
  • Donors can offer pre-owned equipment for donation to vetted community organisations or individuals (“Recipients”).

The contract of sale is formed directly between a Buyer and a Vendor. The donation transaction is facilitated directly between a Donor and a Recipient. AidMart’s role is to provide the platform, facilitate connections, and process payments as an agent. This structure fundamentally impacts how personal information flows, as detailed below.

  1. Application of POPIA
We adhere to the requirements of South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). This policy explains how we, as the platform operator, process information. Vendors, Donors, and Recipients are independently responsible for their own compliance with POPIA concerning the personal information they receive through the platform.
  2. The Information We Collect
3.1. Information You Provide to Us:
  • All Users (Account Information): Name, email address, contact number, and account password.
  • Buyers: Delivery/shipping address. Payment information is collected and processed directly by our secure third-party payment gateway.
  • Vendors: Business name, registration number, physical address, contact details, and banking information for payouts.
  • Donors & Recipients: For donation facilitation, we may collect additional information about the offered/requested items and, for logistics, specific collection/delivery addresses.

3.2. Information Collected Automatically:
We collect data via cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy), such as IP address, browser type, and browsing behaviour on our site. This is used for platform functionality, security, and analytics.

  1. How We Use Your Information (Our Purposes)
  • To Provide & Operate the Platform: To create and manage your user account, facilitate connections between users, display vendor product listings, and process transactions (Performance of a Contract / Legitimate Interest).
  • To Facilitate Transactions: To share necessary information between transacting parties (e.g., sharing a Buyer’s delivery address and order details with the Vendor to fulfil the order) (Performance of a Contract).
  • To Operate the Donation Service: To match Donors with Recipients, coordinate logistics, and record the donation for transparency (Legitimate Interest / With Consent).
  • To Communicate: To send service messages (order/donation status updates, policy changes) and, with your separate consent, marketing communications (Performance of a Contract / Consent).
  • For Security & Improvement: To maintain platform safety, prevent fraud, and analyse usage to improve our services (Legitimate Interest / Legal Obligation).
  1. How We Share Your Information
5.1. Sharing Necessary for Transactions (Core Platform Function):
  • With Vendors: When you make a purchase, we must share your name, delivery address, contact details, and order information with the specific Vendor to enable them to fulfil your contract.
  • With Buyers: A Vendor’s business name and general contact information are visible to facilitate communication.
  • For Donations: Contact and item information is shared between matched Donors and Recipients to arrange collection/delivery.

5.2. Sharing With Our Service Providers:
We use trusted partners for payment processing, cloud hosting, analytics, and customer support. They are bound by strict contractual agreements.

5.3. Legal & Safety Disclosures:
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of AidMart, our users, or the public.

  1. Important Notes on Third-Party Responsibility
  • Vendor Responsibility: Vendors are independent data controllers for the Buyer information they receive. They must handle it in accordance with POPIA for order fulfilment and are responsible for their own product warranties, returns, and direct customer service inquiries related to the product.
  • Donation “As-Is” Basis: AidMart facilitates the connection for donations but does not verify, warrant, or accept any responsibility for the condition, safety, or functionality of donated items. The donation is made directly “as-is” between the Donor and Recipient. We encourage transparency and accurate descriptions from Donors.
  1. Data Security & Retention
We implement robust security measures to protect the information on our platform. We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined, or as required by law (e.g., financial record-keeping).
  2. Your POPIA Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information we hold, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at legal@aidmart.co.za. Please note that we may need to retain certain transaction data for legal reasons and cannot delete information that forms part of an ongoing contractual transaction (e.g., an order in delivery) or that we are legally obliged to keep.
  3. Updates to This Policy
We may update this policy. The “Last Updated” date will reflect changes. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
